Alliance Boots announces that, through its subsidiary Alliance Healthcare Deutschland Holdings 1 GmbH, it has acquired a further 1,508,462, or approximately 14.1%, of shares in Andreae-Noris Zahn AG (“ANZAG”). Alliance Boots has decided to request a squeeze out of the remaining ANZAG shareholders and will inform ANZAG accordingly.
ANZAG is one of the largest pharmaceutical wholesalers in Germany, Europe’s largest pharmaceutical market, where it operates 25 distribution centres serving approximately 8,000 customers of whom around 1,100 are members of its virtual chain “vivesco”.
ANZAG also has pharmaceutical wholesale businesses in Romania and Lithuania, and an associate in Croatia. For its short financial year ended 31 March 2011, ANZAG announced revenue of €2.5 billion (equivalent to £2.1 billion**).
ANZAG will release a trading update on 27 June 2012 for the 12 months to 31 March 2012.
