This week, Boots UK will start delivering COVID-19 vaccinations to help support NHS England in vaccinating the nation.
The UK’s leading pharmacy-led, health and beauty retailer has worked closely with local commissioning groups to launch its first site in Halifax, a town in England. Operating from specially designed facilities at its Halifax store, the site will administer the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine.
Boots will also open two additional vaccination sites in its Huddersfield and Gloucester pharmacies in the coming weeks, with an option to expand into more Boots stores in the future. For all three sites, patients will be invited directly by the NHS to book their COVID-19 vaccination appointment.
With its extensive knowledge, experience and proven capability in vaccination services, Boots is well placed to support the NHS in delivering the vaccine across the UK. It has presented a model for COVID-19 vaccinations to be administered in Boots stores, aligned with its exceptional safety, clinical and operational standards. As part of its preparations to support these three sites, Boots has already begun specialist training with is pharmacists on the handling and administering of the COVID-19 vaccine.
