Fans of health and beauty were celebrating this week when Boots opened its first flagship franchise store with MAP in Pondok, Indonesia. With a focus on skincare, vitamins, health and well-being, customers can now enjoy discovering some of the most-loved, go-to beauty brands including No7, Soap & Glory and Botanics.

“At Boots, we have more than 170 years’ experience helping people in our communities to live well and look great,” says Sean Feeney, managing director of International Retail, WBA. “We know that Indonesian consumers are committed to proactively creating a healthy lifestyle for themselves and their families. That fits perfectly with the Boots purpose of championing everyone’s right to feel good, so I can’t wait to see how consumers respond to our offering.”

The Boots brand in Indonesia will be run by franchise partner and leading lifestyle retailer MAP, with Boots sitting front and center in the fashion and beauty segment of MAP's business.

“MAP has a host of other well-known retail partners, such as Marks & Spencer and Starbucks, and how they deliver the brand in the market for the consumer really shows up well, with great brand execution,” says Richard Thornhill, head of retail partnerships, International Retail, WBA. “I believe that, together, we will deliver a great experience for the customer.”

When it comes to those customers, Boots is not short on research. Sharon Dawson, head of customer Operations, Boots, visited and shopped with some customers in Indonesia early last year.

“Like most Boots customers, they are looking for ways to look after themselves and their families, and even before the pandemic there was a growing interest in proactive health management,” Dawson says. “Digital also plays a huge role in these consumers’ lives, and influencers will be key to our success strategy.”

As an even more convenient way to shop, Boots is offering its Boots Chat & Shop Service, allowing customers to chat directly with the Boots team on WhatsApp to order their products and have them sent direct to their door by same- or next-day delivery. Alternatively, customers can shop online at mapclub.com.
