Elizabeth Burger

Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer


Elizabeth Burger is Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer of Walgreens Boots Alliance, Inc. In this role, Burger is charged with creating a culture where talented and passionate people are eager to join and deliver results. She is responsible for the strategy and direction of innovative HR programs, policies and practices that support WBA’s business goals and initiatives. This includes providing leadership for organizational design and effectiveness, talent management and acquisition, total rewards, DE&I and other programs. 

Burger brings a track record of proven success navigating the intersection of business outcomes and human capital strategies. She joins WBA in March 2024 after serving as senior vice president, CHRO at Flowserve, a leading provider of flow control products and services for the global infrastructure markets, since 2018. During her time at Flowserve she was responsible for leading HR and operating model transformation, including building a performance-based culture focused on growth, employee engagement and leadership development, among other programs. 

Prior to Flowserve, she served as CHRO of Hanesbrands Inc., the world’s largest manufacturer and marketer of everyday basic apparel, from 2013 to 2017. She also previously worked at Monsanto Company, a leading global provider of technology-based solutions and agricultural products, for nearly 20 years in various roles of increasing responsibility, including senior vice president of global business operations. 

Burger holds a B. A. in Communication from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
